Short for Fabric Filtered 19, these specialty masks are hand made by Black Atlas founder Rhonda Reese in response to the growing need and community efforts to reduce the spread of Coronovirus & Covid-19.
Masks are full coverage (below eye to chin and temple to temple) with strings that tie at the back of the head and neck and come with a built in HEPA quality cloth like filter. They are washable & reusable made with 100% cotton fabric and polyester thread for durability.
Black Atlas Inc is on a mission to supply needed protective masks to families who either cannot access them or have the means to make them. At this time, there are nearly 2,000 displaced families in the city of Columbus (Franklin County) staying in homeless shelters or alternative facilities. These numbers include over 200 schoolage or pre-k children. roughlt 300 of this population account for the "hidden homeles" who stay with friends & family. We are focused on supporting the CDC's mission to "Flatten the Curve" and "Slow the Spread" by focusing on protecting and arming the high risk populations by donating masks to our local commnity shelters. From the official US Center of Disease Control:
"CDC also advises the use of simple cloth face coverings to slow the spread of the virus and help people who may have the virus and do not know it from transmitting it to others. Cloth face coverings fashioned from household items or made at home from common materials at low cost can be used as an additional, voluntary public health measure. Cloth face coverings should not be placed on young children under age 2, anyone who has trouble breathing, or is unconscious, incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the mask without assistance. The cloth face coverings recommended are not surgical masks or N-95 respirators. Those are critical supplies that must continue to be reserved for healthcare workers and other medical first responders, as recommended by current CDC guidance."
